PHCS Scholarship Program 2010   

The 2010 HIGH SCHOOL scholarship program consists of seven (7) scholarships: 

$1,000            PHCS Lionel R. Holmes (general purpose)

$   500            PHCS (general purpose)

 500            Edward Dutra  (general purpose)

 500            Deolinda Dutra (general purpose

 500            Valerie Rose Logan (nursing, medical)

 500            Marie Dutra Gambrel (general purpose)

 500            American Portuguese Club of Sacramento

DEADLINE postmark for submission of applications is April 16, 2010

Requirements:  Applicants must be a high school senior; be of Portuguese descent; achieve a GPA of 3.0 or better.  Application should include official grade transcript; at least one letter of recommendation (principal, counselor, teacher, employer, etc.); an essay of not less than 300 words relating to applicant's Portuguese heritage.

There were 34 applicants from Northern California cities.  Judges were PHCS directors Mary Ann Marshall, Olivia Lage, Lionel Holmes (chairperson) and former director Herb Perry.
