
PHCS Portuguese Language Class SPRING 2010
SPRING SESSION 2010 (Tentative Schedule)
We thank you for your interest in the Portuguese language. We hope this session, which Portuguese Historical and Cultural Society is providing as a community service, will be a pleasant experience for you.
First Meeting:
The plan is to present an overview of the class, to register students and to provide a lesson at the initial meeting. Additionally, we will collect the registration fee and the cost of the textbook which is entitled “Bom Dia”, Level I, produced by Spinner Publications, New Bedford, Massachusetts. The authors are Marcia Matos and Sara Neto-Kalife. This is a highly acclaimed Portuguese language textbook which also covers culture, history and geography of Portugal.
Class Date/Time: Usually held on Thursday evenings
7:00 p.m. (class duration—approximately 1½ - 2 hours)
Ten sessions
Location: St. Elizabeth Church – Father Ribeiro house

Conversational, some travel
Cost of Textbook: $40 (Price includes 25% discount plus shipping and handling)

Supplemental materials: The lessons will also be augmented by supplemental materials and activities provided by Mrs. Da Guia
Teacher: Mrs. Higina da Guia
(Mrs. Da Guia is a native speaker of Portuguese. She has taught Portuguese in San Jose schools. She is also the author of two children’s books)
