PHCS 25th Anniversary Picnic and Celebration

A bright sunny day greeted attendees at the PHCS 25th anniversary picnic at Portuguese Community Park in the Greenhaven-Pocket area of Sacramento.  Family members and friends gathered to enjoy a traditional linguica picnic.  Activities included a display of society photos and books.  Entertainment was provided by "Alma Ribatejana", a newly formed Portuguese folkloric group based in Fremont.  Alma Ribatejana is composed of nearly 40 singers, dancers and musicians from different parts of northern California who performed various songs and dances, and wore typical costumes from the central region of Portugal known as Ribatejo, an area located along the Tejo River northeast of Lisbon.
